VIDEO: Kang Will Be a Key Member of the MCU's Young Avengers Team
Liam Nolan
Since the end of Avengers: Endgame, it's been clear that the Young Avengers are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU has already set up two of the team's most important members: Cassie Lang/Stature and Eli Bradley/Patriot. However, several others are slated to appear at some point in the future. And while he hasn't officially been confirmed, there's a good chance that a variant of Kang the Conqueror named Iron Lad will be present when that team forms.
Created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung, Nathaniel Richards/Iron Lad first appeared in 2005's Young Avengers #1. Originally from the future, Richards found out that he was going to eventually become the villainous Kang. This horrified the young man, who went to the past in hopes of finding a way to defeat his evil counterpart. In terms of the MCU, it's likely that Iron Lad will be a variant of Kang, which is likely to result in some changes to his story.

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, it's not totally clear just what shape the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will take. While there's a good indication the characters that Disney acquired from 21st Century Fox will soon arrive, there's not much solid information on just when or how that might happen. Right now, there are a lot of potential directions the MCU could go in the future, though exactly where it will go remains to be seen. As of right now, it's unclear just which other versions of Kang will appear in the MCU, though we know that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will feature at least one.
