The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins revealed that he was the series' main protagonist Rand Al'Thor for Halloween in 2019 after borrowing actor Josha Stradowski's costume.
When asked on a Reddit AMA, "Which outfit would you be most excited about taking home with you? Are there secret photos somewhere of you rocking the body of a Trolloc and Moiraine's kesiera?" Judkins responded, "I'm not gonna lie. I was Rand Al'Thor for Halloween in 2019. I was so much skinnier then that I actually fit in Josha's costume."
The showrunner has been vocal about his appreciation for the characters, world and lore of The Wheel of Time. He touched on doing his best to ensure that the individuals on-screen are perfect representations of what exists in the novels, highlighting that characters such as Uno, the foul-mouthed Shienaran veteran soldier, will mirror mannerisms that fans know and love him for.
Judkins recently discussed comments that have been pitting the first three episodes of The Wheel of Time against HBO's wildly successful The Game of Thrones. Fans and critics have been comparing the two, since both shows are adaptations of celebrated fantasy series. Judkins said, "I loved the Thrones books, and then loved the adaptation too. So I was like, 'I love this, but it's not what this is, and I'm not going to make it this. So if we engage in this together, do it knowing that you're bringing something else that's really amazing to life, which is The Wheel of Time, which is in so many ways a pillar of fantasy literature that has never been adapted.'"
The Wheel of Time adaptation has been met with positive reviews, with Amazon greenlighting a second season well before the first season premiered. The series' actors, such as Rosamund Pike, who plays Moiraine, have been discussing their thoughts and perspectives on the show and books. Pike explained the Great Serpent rings found on Aes Sedai and the meanings behind them. "I had never imagined the Serpent biting its own tail to be something that would raise off the ring like it does," Pike said. "I had always imagined it [with] you looking down on it."
Following the bulk release of the first three episodes, Prime Video will air episodes of The Wheel of Time every Friday. The fourth episode is set to air on Nov. 26.
